SmartGroup Gives Small Dealers Inside Look at Giant Operation
Achilles Group to Meet at Michigan Mega-Dealership; New Group Apollo Prepares for Launch
A SmartGroups™ 20 Group for small dealers is taking a giant step forward. Group Achilles, for retail dealers selling fewer than 100 vehicles per month, will hold its next meeting – coming up Oct. 12-14 – on site at Monster Motors, an independent mega-dealership in the Detroit area.
“What we want to do is give the group members an opportunity to walk through a very large dealership to see what best practices they can take back to their own operation,” SmartGroups CEO Justin M. Osburn said.
“This isn't your ordinary 20 Group on-site, where dealers visit a group member's facility – an operation comparable to their own,” added Howard Bullock, director of the SmartGroups program. “This is a chance to learn from one of the largest operators in the country.”
Achilles member Brandon Reeves, owner of Brandon Reeves Auto World in Monroe, N.C., said he is “super excited” about the site visit. “We aspire to be a mega-dealer, like anyone would want to be,” he said. “And what better opportunity is there than to visit a mega-dealer to learn and see what they’re doing on a daily basis? To be able do that and implement those ideas in our store is remarkable. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of this experience?”
Reeves said there are a couple of areas he’ll be paying particular attention to. “I’d like to learn about their time to line – how they go about getting their vehicles on the lot,” he said, “and what their pricing strategy is.” Reeves said the group has been invaluable as he works to grow his dealership. “Our business has been totally transformed through the SmartGroups experience,” he said. “This group has been more than we ever thought it could be, and it only continues to get better.”
Group Achilles filled up less than 45 days after its launch, but SmartGroups is accepting reservations for a new group of similar-sized dealers – Group Apollo – that will launch in early 2023.
