SmartGroups Brings America’s Largest Independent Retail Dealers Together
Group Zeus Meets This Week; Another ‘Supergroup’ Planned for 2023
Some of the largest independent auto retail dealers in the U.S. are meeting this week to exchange ideas and learn as part of the SmartGroups™ 20 Group program.
Group Zeus, which includes dealers who retail more than 200 vehicles per month, will hold its next meeting Aug. 24-26 in Jackson Hole, Wyo., where they will get a look at the latest buying center technology, consider what’s ahead in the volatile used car market and discuss BDC best practices.
“It's humbling to be around some of the greatest car guys in the world,” SmartGroups CEO Justin Osburn said. “The dealers in this group sell an average of 600 retail units a month, and many of them are selling 1,000 to 2,000 units or more a month.”
Zeus currently has two spots still available for dealerships retailing 800 or more units per month. Osburn said he expects SmartGroups to add another “supergroup” for large dealerships in 2023.
SmartGroups, which launched early this year, also features groups for small dealers and for the nation’s largest independent dealers.
The program is led by Osburn, a renowned dealer educator, Army veteran, certified sales trainer and self-described student of the auto industry with extensive experience as the owner of three independent dealerships as well as serving as a sales professional, F&I manager and general manager.
Osburn previously served as retail 20 Groups moderator and consultant for the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association and was the instructor for NIADA’s acclaimed Certified Master Dealer course.
“SmartGroups are 20 Groups reimagined, with a smarter schedule, smarter speakers and smarter technology,” Osburn said.
